Chevy COPO Camaro is Auctioned Off at United Way Benefit
Chevy recently decided to auction off the first sixth-generation 2016 COPO Camaro racecar to benefit the United Way. COPO models, which stands for Central Office Production Order, are specially designed race cars that are drag-strip ready and incredibly rare.
According to Chevy, this Chevy COPO Camaro model was designed by racing legend Courtney Force, with a Red Hot exterior, signature graphics, a red-accented grille, and black rear end. A carbon fiber hood hides the Whipple 2.9-liter supercharged engine and its THM-350 transmission.
“I was extremely honored to work with Chevrolet and help design the 2016 COPO Camaro,” said Courtney Force. “The bright red color and the signature slash marks towards the back on the car bring a part of my Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car to the COPO Camaro, which I think is really cool. The proceeds from this car go to a great cause and benefit the United Way, so it’s an awesome project all around.”
This model also comes with a chrome-molly roll cage, lightweight racing bucket seats, Courtney Force’s signature, five-point safety harnesses, and exclusive instrument gauges. The COPO Camaro also has a No. 001 serial number to make it especially unique. The proceeds went to the United Way after an auction on January 29.
